At Mountaineer Kitchens & Baths, we believe that thoughtful design can enhance quality of life—especially when it comes to aging in place. A Bathroom Built for Long-Term Comfort & Accessibility

Aging in place begins with smart choices that ensure safety and functionality for years to come. The Warrenfeltz family’s master bathroom remodel focused on reimagining the space for ease of movement, safe bathing, and accessible features—all while maintaining a clean, modern look.

1. A Safer, More Functional Layout

  • Expanded Toilet Area: We relocated and enlarged the toilet area for improved accessibility and maneuverability.
  • New Shower Walls & Framing: Framed a new layout that better suited the family’s needs, replacing the existing tub and tile shower with a safer, more accessible solution.
  • Vanity Preserved: The existing vanity was kept in place, allowing for familiarity and continuity while refreshing the surrounding space.

2. ADA-Compliant Shower System

  • Onyx Collection Shower with Bench Seat: We installed a custom Onyx Collection shower pan and wall panels, complete with a built-in bench seat and corner caddy, making it easy to sit and store toiletries while bathing.
  • Grab Bars for Safety: Three strategically placed 24″ Moen grab bars provide extra support for entering, exiting, and moving around the shower and bathroom.
  • Handheld Shower with Transfer Valve: The Moen Eva series shower controls include a handheld spray wand with a transfer valve, offering a versatile and user-friendly showering experience.

3. Durable, Slip-Resistant Flooring

  • Mannington Adura Click Lock LVT Flooring: This beautiful, waterproof flooring in the color Rain adds warmth and safety to the space. It’s easy to clean, slip-resistant, and built to last—a perfect choice for aging in place.

4. Thoughtful Finishes & Lighting

  • Level 4 Drywall Finish: All new drywall was finished to a smooth, high-end standard that’s both attractive and easy to maintain.
  • Fresh Paint: Soft, neutral tones were selected to create a calm, welcoming environment.
  • LED Lighting & Ventilation: We added recessed LED lighting and a new Broan fan/light combo unit to brighten the room and keep it well-ventilated, supporting a healthy and comfortable atmosphere.

5. Elegant Shower Entry with Safety in Mind

  • Frameless Glass Shower Door: A 76″ tall hinged shower door with brushed nickel hardware adds a modern touch while maintaining easy access for safe entry and exit.
